Last month, my colleague Stefanie Walter and I organized a small workshop that brought together ten political economists from Europe and the United States to discuss challenges to the contemporary global order—the Trump administration; far right nationalism in Europe; Brexit; the lingering effects of the Global Financial Crisis; de-industrialization, globalization, and inequality; and the other exciting politics of our times.
We are happy to share the first initial fruits of this effort at this dedicated website, where you can find drafts of the workshop papers and some initial summary thoughts about what we have learned and where we plan to go next. We anticipate that we will continue this conversation in the coming months, but for now, feel free to read and share.
NOTE: Stefanie and I would like to acknowledge the generous support for this workshop that was provided by the Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell University and The Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich.
