A former Cornell undergrad who now works in the Singaporean government and I attempted to have dinner this evening at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. We were met with disappointment.

The taxi driver that took me back home after a very tasty ramen noodle dinner explained to me that all of the bak kut teh places in Singapore are closed on Mondays because the abattoirs are closed on Mondays, which means that there is no good fresh pork available. I have no idea if this is true, but I choose to believe that it is. And it does not much matter, because the ramen shop managed to find enough imported pork (from Spain, they claimed) to produce the masterpiece below.
