Ekonomi AC

I (TP) took a commuter train today for the first time in quite some time.  I normally don’t do this because they don’t go where I need to go, and more importantly they are not air conditioned.  But this time I found the air-conditioned economy-class train (Kereta Api Ekonomi AC) and took it down to the southern outskirts of Jakarta for a meeting.  This is by far the most comfortable way to travel around here.  It was a real treat to see some public infrastructure working as it was supposed to.

Or, almost as it is supposed to.  There was no sign marking the station where I was supposed to get off, so I went right past it.  But it didn’t matter, I got there eventually.

Incidentally, one of the reasons that I am confident that radical Islam is not taking over Indonesia is that I saw a woman breastfeeding her child on the train.  The only person who was surprised was me.
