Some things that I’ve learned over the past couple of days.
From the Department of Now I’ve Seen Everything: I saw a development by a company called “China Sonangol” today. That means that a Chinese subsidiary of the Angolan national oil company is developing a skyscraper in Singapore.
From the Department of Foreign Occupation: The semi-offensive word for
“Caucasian” here is “ang mo.” That’s Hokkien for “red hair.”
From the Department of Curious Marketing: On the side of buses here, you can see Kevin Costner advertising for Turkish Airlines non-stop flights to Istanbul.
Weird.
