We’ve arrived in New Zealand, safe and sound. We’re horrendously jet-lagged (neither of us can sleep on planes), but even in our diminished state of mental awareness we can tell that Auckland is a beautiful city, and that New Zealand seems to be a beautiful country. We’ve just been walking near the harbor here and marvelling at all the boats. They take yachting pretty seriously here, of course.
JM, reading the New Zealand Herald, has just reported that an Economist survey finds Auckland to be the 39th most expensive city in the world to live in. Given the kind of prices we’re seeing for our dinner in a couple hours, we’re not surprised.
