"First Job Talk"

Today I (TP) presented my findings from five months of research at a lunchtime lecture at the Freedom Institute.  It was fun, but a little stressful.  I began trying to speak in Indonesian, but gave up after two sentences when it became clear that I was going to spend half the time searching for the terms for “managed floating exchange rate” and “negative real interest rate” and stuff like that.  At any rate, I got some good feedback, had a nice discussion, and a good lunch featuring an inexplicable dessert–fantastically sweet chicken-flavored glutinous deep fried thing served with Thai bird’s eye insanity peppers.  Whatever.  They also had krupuk kacang!

In case we don’t get around to blogging, the next two days are holidays.  We’ll explain later.  Right now it’s off for a nap.
